Bollywood, an industry involving many people who are creative and a few money loving greedy fellows. This is also one of those industries which runs on only money and some minds.
The money here comes from the common people who go mad at the stars and go to the multiplexes as soon as the movie releases.
Actors here were the favorites... But there are only a few legendary actors, like Dev Anand or Amitabh Bachhan (Forgive me for the spellings, I ain't very good at it). Yes they were the true actors and they still are. Big B is a legend. He concentrated on his acting and earned money for that. He wasn't commercial at all. He just charged what he needed.
Modern day superstars are different. It may be true that they may have more fans and popularity than Big B, but they also have a greed for money.
Take for example SRK, who doesn't know him? Yet all his films aren't a hit. The one in which he has some investment has to be a hit. Recent example: Dulha Mil Gaya.. flop... Whereas MNIK, hit before release. In which one did he invest?
Now these actors are wanting somepart of the profit to act. Aamir had a 33.3% share in 3 Idiots (as I heard)...So now the producers have to pay much more to the actors. Aamir earned 50 crore (according to some reports) from 3 Idiots. Yes I guess he may have also invested some money. But if he was asked only to act and take a fixed money, he would not have worked. Recently Javed Aktar I guess have commented that a film does well because of its script. Old songs are still a hit because they were well written. Aamir made money on a story by Chetan Bhagat, yet when he asked for credits, there was a controversy. SRK worked hard in acting and promoting MNIK because he had his hard earned money invested in that film...
Viewing from angle, this is the present angle of the Indian film industry. Will it only look after its greed for money or will it also have some place for proper creative persons?
